  1. Acceptable forms of documentation - To obtain an Ohio Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC), Driver License (DL), Commercial Driver License (CDL), Identification Card (ID), Motorcycle or Moped License, the applicant must present one primary and one secondary document or 2 primary documents to prove all of the following five elements: (1) legal first name, middle name OR middle initial, and current last name; (2) date of birth; (3) Social Security Number (SSN), if ever assigned; (4) U.S. citizenship OR U.S. legal presence; and (5) resident street address in Ohio. If the primary and/or secondary document does not establish the applicant's Ohio residence street address, the applicant shall present documents contained in the proof of residency list.   2. Acceptable forms of payment - Cash, Check (Personal, Cashier's or Traveler's) and Money Order accepted - sorry, no credit cards. An ATM cash machine is available inside our lobby.

  3. E-Check information - Ohio E-Check is required if you live in specific Ohio counties. For a list of E-Check locations please visit the website.

  4. Fees for services - Fees vary by type of transaction and place of residence. Please refer to the Ohio BMV for a current list of fees. The above registration fees do not include permissive (local) taxes which vary based on the taxing district of the customer.

  5. Forms and publications - Forms and publications for all matters related to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles are available for download here.

  6. Late fees - Effective July 1, 2013, the current fee for late renewal of motor vehicle registration will be reduced from $20 to $10. In addition, the previous 7-day grace period associated with the fee has been extended to 30 days. The BMV asks drivers to keep in mind that it is still illegal to operate a motor vehicle after the registration expiration date as doing so can result in citations and fines. In order to avoid a late fee, customers may renew their motor vehicle registrations up to 90 days before the expiration date.

  9. Reinstatement processing of a suspended license can NOW be done at the Barberton License Bureau. There is a service fee of $10 charged for the processing of reinstatements. For information regarding license reinstatements, call 844-644-6268 or click here.

  10. Testing - Ohio driver's license, CDL or temporary permit - Driver testing is done at the Barberton Driver Examination Station at 19 5th Street SE, Barberton, OH 44203.   11. Titles - Vehicle or watercraft - Although we do not issue titles, we can assist you in the process. Please ask us about our convenient title handling service.

  12. Watercraft Registration - We now offer both new and renewal boat registrations. Stop in, call or visit the Ohio Department of Natural Resources website for more information.
